Download a PDF of our Commencement Program! - provided by classmate Linda Falcone Murawski.

==

Classmate Linda Falcone Murawski has offered to scan our entire yearbook, and make it available to post on this web site. Alan Epstein is lending her his copy. I, as webmistess, apologize for not having kept up with this project, and promise to follow up... soon...

Shameless plug: The 5th Annual Sing To Cure MS concert, which benefited the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, was a great success. Be in touch with Marion if you'd like to help out with next October's 6th Annual concert, which will be supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council!

More news as it breaks! - Marion

Where is John Bowne High School?
It's still there, at 63-25 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11367

Memories: We, having avoided the fate of the mythical student who could not escape this block of schools, have survived to remember the year 1969:

and John Bowne during the school year 1968-69:

  • the classes
  • the clubs
  • the students
  • the teachers
  • the teachers' strike
  • our mascot, the Nauga (visit http://www.naugahyde.com/ to learn more about our friend.)

Progress: We haven't stayed at John Bowne all this time. Even those who have returned (yes, there are such!) have gone far and done much that we never could have imagined when we were kids.

This is our web site. Let's share our memories! - both of high school and of the years since. Fill out the JBHS '69 Update Form to have your personal information included on this site, or just send a message to the webmistress at bowne@leedscarroll.com with ideas for what you'd like to add to this site.

Shameless plug! Since I am the Webmistress here, I'm including a link to information about my Fourth Annual Benefit Concert: Sing To Cure MS, to benefit the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis. You can donate directly to the Cure Project, in my name if you'd like, or in the name of anyone else you know who has MS. You can also purchase a CD of the 3rd annual, October 2005. concert.

View a piece of history: our Alma Mater, in the original mimeographed version, provided by the composer, Alice Gross (fondly remembered as our music teacher, Mrs. Gross).

The myth: He started out in the grade school down the block, continued through the jr. high and high school, and matriculated around the block at Queens College - except that, before he could make it around the corner for his first class, he was hit by a bus and ended up in the cemetery across the street...

The joke: Okay, do you really need to hear the whole thing again? Isn't it enough to say, "What do you want with Beef-and-Broccoli at this hour?!"
